I graduated cum laude from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilization and a minor in English. While there, I was also inducted into the honor society Phi Beta Kappa.
Throughout my education, the best teachers I have had are those who cater their lessons to the specific skills of their students. I have found that this ability is integral to tutoring as well. To that end, I form lesson plans only after meeting with and learning of the particular needs of the student in question. And before I begin tutoring, I consult with the student/parent(s) to figure out the goal of the sessions – whether to prepare specifically for one test, or to more generally gain knowledge of the subject at hand. At the start of each session, I conduct a mini-review of the material that was previously covered, in order to ensure that the student maintains a strong foundation upon which he or she can build. And in case my student has a last-minute or a burning question that simply cannot wait, I provide my phone number and email for easy contact.
Above all, I love what I study and what I teach, and I have found that once I communicate that enthusiasm to my students, they can hardly wait to begin learning.
