I'm a thoughtful, articulate scientist, with 25 years of experience in biotech and pharmaceutical industries as an analytical chemist. I have also taught chemistry, biology, physical science, environmental science, earth science, and anatomy and physiology, all at high-school level.
I'm certified by WyzAnt in the subjects I offer, and by state Praxis (teacher competency) tests in chemistry, physics, general science, biology, and earth science. I hold Standard Certificate credentials as a New Jersey teacher of Chemistry and Physical Science. I have applied much of my science training either professionally or recreationally, and bring that experience to bear in my teaching.
I prefer to work one-on-one with students to develop their understanding of science topics, targeting each student's individual preferred way of learning and current level of knowledge.
I'm still curious about how the world works--I try to develop that in students via Socratic type ("higher-level") questioning, between the nuts-and-bolts of subject content.
