I have a PhD in the biological sciences and have taught freshman college students for nine years at two colleges (New Jersey and Mass.) as a full-time and adjunct professor in biological science. I am a certified substitute teacher in New Jersey in science courses for grades K through 12 in order to help struggling students, in order to learn more about how they are taught in the public school system and how to improve their learning experience for their individual needs.

I specialize in tutoring the following secondary and college subjects: General Math, PreAlgebra and Algebra I; General Biology and laboratory, General Chemistry and laboratory, Analytical Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Science their laboratories. I also have experience tutoring students to get higher scores in the ACT, PRAXIS, SAT, GRE, ASVAB and MCAT examinations in science and math. I use the student's textbook and curriculum to help the student and augment the student's material with my own texts, quizzes, tests and study sheets.

Many students feel lost in class where the curriculum is fast paced or the teacher does not have the time to explain in the detail necessary for regular students to understand the information. As a consequence they fall behind and do not firmly grasp the basics. They become even more anxious and worried as the class moves forward into new subject areas. My passion is teaching and tutoring in a way that the student understands not only the basic concepts and ideas of the course work, but also how all the parts fit together into an understandable whole. We sit together and discuss their problems and devise a plan on how to learn effectively. We cut each problem into little pieces that are more easy to understand, then we fit them together. We use their books and homework assignments, quizzes and tests to help them figure out what the teacher wants. I help the student think out a problem. This gives the student a real advantage when he or she moves to more difficult courses or enters college. College students also need tutoring in order to keep up with the fast pace of learning in colleges and universities and to prepare for tests. Remember, there is no substitute for studying, and with tutoring the students gains confidence and does much better in class.

In addition, I "sit" on grant review panels for the National Institutes of Health NIH and the National Science Foundation NSF, both in Washington, DC. As a reviewer, I have judged the quality of grant proposals written by college and university professors and even private biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. As part of my work in Biotechnology, I have authored two inventions that received US patents and have written three books.

Finally, I have lectured across the United States and in Europe (the European Union), and I truly enjoy teaching and seeing the eyes of student become bright when they understand an idea!
