I can help students who are struggling, students who are looking to excel, and virtually everyone else in between.
I have over five years of experience working as a tutor and teacher - with large test prep companies, local test prep companies, and independently. I know that over five years of experience may not sound like much, but I consider tutoring my full time profession. There are plenty of tutors out there with 15 or more years of experience, but they may only tutor 5-10 hours a week. Feel free to ask other tutors how many students they've tutored and how often they tutor. I have taught/tutored over 1400 students. I've taught over 600 students in a classroom setting (in person) and well over 800 students online (through virtual class rooms). I've privately tutored well over 250 students (in person and online). I am experienced in academic/test prep tutoring from grade school through college.
I have a very diverse educational background. My Behavioral Neuroscience degree consists of courses in Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, English, Psychology, Calculus, and Bio-Statistics, and I also took courses in Japanese Culture, History, Chinese Religion, Philosophy, and Theater.
I also have experience working with students that have ADHD, dyslexia, students with IEP's, and other documented learning disabilities. I do not have formal training in specialized education, but rather successful experience. While other tutors may shy away from students who they think might be challenging to teach, I embrace these opportunities.
Improving grades/test scores has nothing to do with memorizing certain facts or learning obscure rules, equations, and formulas. The key is learning how to think systematically. Once you learn how to learn, you never forget it - because you are learning a SKILL, and it is nearly impossible to learn how to learn from a text-book.
The most important factor when measuring how successful a teacher or tutor is when it comes to teaching material and conveying information is experience. An elementary math teacher of 30 years will time and time again outshine another educator with just a few years of teaching experience: regardless of what content is being taught. Even if the elementary math teacher has never taught advanced math, he or she will approach it the same way and break it down so that it is understandable and meaningful.
That's why I believe myself to be such an effective teacher/tutor: my experience working with students in grade school and simplifying material for them allows me to then do the very same thing for high school, college, and graduate students. So whether it's SAT Math or ACT English or GMAT Argument Analysis or GRE Verbal or MCAT Physics or college level chemistry - I break the material down into simpler concepts.
NJ-ASK, SSAT, HSPA, PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, AP (Advanced Placement) Exams, IB (International Baccalaureate) exams, GED, GRE, MCAT, GMAT, Praxis, etc.
Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Literature, History, Social Studies, Computers and Networking, Computer Software, etc. If you don't see your subject here - just inquire!
Some Student Successes: 350+ points score improvement on the SAT, several 800s on the SAT and SAT subject tests, 20+ points score improvement on the GRE, 8+ points improvement on the MCAT, 30 point improvement on the Math Praxis, 34+ on the ACT (with 36's in Science, Math, and Reading), and 5's an various AP exams.
While I cannot guarantee scores like the ones above, I do promise my very best to help you get your highest score possible!

My cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance due to high demand. It is best to get in touch with me as early as possible so we have time to coordinate our schedules. I can try to accommodate last minute requests, but cannot guarantee them. I may charge for travel that exceeds 30 minutes, but this would be discussed and confirmed prior to our initial lesson.
Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather (snow, sleet, freezing rain, extreme rain, heavy wind, weather advisories/warnings, road closures, etc) travel can either take much longer than normal or not be advisable. I will make every reasonable effort to keep my commitments and keep on schedule when the weather doesn't necessarily cooperate. I just ask the same in return; please do not wait until the very last second to make a decision when it comes to weather- related changes.
Travel Policy: Minimum session length or travel charge may apply for travel that exceeds 30 minutes, but this would be discussed and confirmed prior to our initial lesson.
Education is an investment. If a student is struggling, it makes perfect sense to get him/her the help needed so that the time spent in school is worthwhile. Great grades and great test scores can open doors that may have been previously closed; so students should have every resource available to him/her to help achieve that goal. Don't forget that grades and test scores are significant factors when determining scholarships, so investing time and effort now can pay off substantially in the future. Finally, let's not forget the most important part in all of this: the student. The confidence that a student regains through effective tutoring can last a lifetime.
If you have any questions - please feel free to ask. I'd be glad to answer them.
THANK YOU for considering me to help you/your family.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch. Every day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test/exam score that will only make it harder to recover from.
