As a Reading Intervention Teacher, I understand the need for a multi-sensory teaching approach which accommodates different learning styles. As a parent, I know exactly how you are feeling. I have experienced the worry and concern of a child who is struggling in school. With conviction, I can tell you that there is hope and promise for your child. I use hands-on individualized practices, with an Orton-Gillingham based system to improve reading.
My objective is to greatly improve the reading, writing, and spelling skills of children in first to fourth grade, using Orton Gillingham.
I have a masters in Literacy Education and extensive training in Orton GIllingham. I have been teaching for more than ten years and the Orton Gillingham approach will help your child to learn and blend sounds, which leads to decoding and spelling words. To increase sight word knowledge and improve fluency (reading rate), results in higher reading comprehension scores. This type of approach to reading is often what is needed.
Once students can read a text we will continue to hone in skills such as fluency, prosody, sequencing and organizational skills and reading comprehension strategies used to strengthen and supplement reading. Importantly, your child will enjoy coming to tutoring.
The result, your child will build confidence, which improves reading skills. It is very exciting to watch the process take place.
Sessions are one hour in length.
