With certification in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Special Education for grades 4 - 9, I consider myself a triple threat to meet your tutoring needs! My two years as a High School English instructor in Baltimore City Public Schools have provided me experience working with a variety of learners- gifted and talented students, ESL students, students with autism, students with dyslexia, students with ADHD/ADD, and students with other learning disabilities. Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified to teach grades 4 - 9 in Maryland in the following subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Special Education.

Phonics

I am certified in Wilson Reading System, a multi-sensory approach to teaching phonics to struggling readers. Taught Wilson Reading one on one and in a small group intervention format. I also possess a Master of Education in Elementary Education and Special Education.

Track & Field

In high school, I participated in Track and Cross-Country, running the 800 and 1600 meter races, and well as a 5K. I earned All-Conference honors my senior year. I served as an assistant coach for Baltimore Freedom Academy's indoor track team during the 2011-2012 school year.

Voice (Music)

I have a strong background in vocal music. I have studied voice with Ron S. My experience with choral music includes 3 years in the Philadelphia Boys Choir, 4 years in high school chorale, 4 years as a member of the Villanova Singers, and 4 years singing a capella music with the Villanova Spires. I also have performance experience in musical theatre and vocal percussion.

Public Speaking

I possess a Bachelor's degree in Communication. As an English teacher, part of my curriculum includes teaching students how to write an effective speech and how to best engage an audience. I also have experience as an emcee of my school's talent show.

ADD/ADHD

I am certified in Special Education, and I teach a high population of students with ADHD and ADD. This experience has allowed me to develop a set of strategies to engage learners with ADHD and ADD.

Dyslexia

I am certified in Step 1 of the Wilson Reading System, a multisensory approach to teaching reading designed to benefit students with dyslexia.

Social Studies

I possess a degree in Communications and Media Studies, as well as a minor in History.
