I've worked in the Electrical Engineering industry for 20 years and still actively use all of my math/science skills that I've acquired throughout my education. As an engineer, not only do you have to know your own discipline (analog electronics, electromagnetic fields, etc.), you have to be very well versed in all mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus, probability, etc.) as well as in the physical sciences (physics, statics, dynamics). I have tutored students for standardized tests such as the GRE and SAT, too. I am especially good at helping people understand abstract concepts and at developing problem-solving techniques. Best of luck to you in your academic endeavors!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I have a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my academic and professional career, an understanding of differential equations was essential, as it is a fundamental tool used in circuit analysis. The most basic circuit parameters such as inductors and capacitors and their respective relationships with currents and voltages require an engineer to be intimately familiar with differential equations. Another example of this is Maxwell's equations, which describe the interplay between time varying electric and magnetic fields, which are a cornerstone of wave propogation.

Discrete Math

I have a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my academic and professional career, an understanding of discrete math was essential, especially as it relates to digital signal processing, probability and stochastic processes.

Electrical Engineering

I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University. I graduated with Highest Honors. I also have a MS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. I worked in the fiber optic telecommunications field for 13 years. After that, I worked in the medical field, which I continue to do, designing and testing equipment used in speech analysis and video stroboscopy. I have been at my present position for 9 years.

Linear Algebra

As an electrical engineer, I often have to solve complex systems of equations using state variables. This is especially true in the field of automatic control theory. Linear Algebra is an essential tool for setting up and solving these equations.
