Adobe Photoshop

I have worked with Photoshop for over 10 Years. I suppose on of the first tasks one has to master in Photoshop is how to make selections. I started with the basics-the lasso tools and the magic wand. Layer masks were the next step as well as making selections with color range-using adjustment layers or channels to up the contrast making it easier to make selections with the various tools. The pen tool is my favorite selection tool for images like bottles or whatever. Also the vector shape tools give a variety for making shapes or shape layers. For retouching I have used all the obvious tools such as the stamp or healing brush tools to fix tears or holes.mold or dust -the dodge or burn tools to brighten of darken-the adjustment layers to adjust tone and remove color casts or help saturate very pale images.., I use mostly levels and curves. Colorizing B & W photos I paint on different layers over the image and use the blend modes.Of course one of the fun things in PS is dragging and dropping layers into another document and combining the images -say putting a dogs head on a man. Things like this are not that difficult as long as the light sources are fairly consistent in both documents. Layer styles I use mostly for type but sometimes us them in pictures. Now we have smart objects -smart filters which are not destructive and give one even more control. I could go on and on with all the filters-I have my favorites-noise -wind-blast-the blur filters--So many do different things I can't list them all. Using PS I don't mean to braq but I'm a real speed demon and know all the keyboard shortcuts that work for me -as well as using actions. I could get into patterns and painting them using a Wacom tablet with a pressure sensitive pen. It's all a-lot of fun and I will be am putting up a website soon to show my work. I would be glad to send examples.

Drawing

I have a BFA from the Kansas City Art institute. I have drawn from the figure, drawn landscapes and I make sketches for the Software Program Illustrator. I have made working drawings for murals and then translated the drawing (using a grid) onto large walls for the murals.
My wife and I have owned and run a mural company. We have worked for Disney, Michael Graves, the Mohegan Casinos in New York State. Also worked for private clients as well.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
