Hello, everyone. My name is Jeff. I have just completed my degree in Biochemistry at Ramapo College of New Jersey. If you are struggling with your chemistry or your math, I'm your man. I really enjoy working with students and I have just received my certificate from the state to be eligible to teach high school chemistry. I am also currently a substitute teacher for the high school and the middle school in my town.
While algebra is the math which I am strongest with, I am also very good with geometry, SAT Math, and more. As far as chemistry, my college work included organic chemistry, analytical, biochemistry, fundamentals, and more. I would be glad to help college students with some of their work.
I have worked as a tutor as well as a teaching assistant in the past and I have a lot of experience working with kids. First, I like to find out what exactly the student is struggling with. I found out which concepts specifically they are not understanding. Then, I like to explain the concept in a few different ways and simplify it so that it makes sense. Finally, I do problems with my students making sure that the skill has been properly locked in. I allow the students to practice the work on their own and together we work on what parts they need the help with. My emphasis is on the student leaving the session being able to do the problems entirely by themselves once they have understood.
I am available weekdays from 3 pm on and all day on the weekends. I am also willing to meet at your place of residence, a local library, or wherever you are most comfortable.
I am willing to negotiate the pay rate based on distance from my home and how regular the lessons will be. My tutoring methods are relaxed, but informative and I look forward to meeting you and/or your student.
