I am currently a senior at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. Most of my experience involves teenagers and young adults. In high school, I was in the organization Mu Alpha Theta. This organization tutors students who have weaknesses in math related subjects. I have three years of tutoring experience from tutoring jobs available at my school. My tutoring expertise includes chemistry, algebra I, algebra II, trigonometry, and chemical engineering. My specialty is chemistry because I have taken AP Chemistry in high school, and I am majoring in Chemical Engineering.
My approach to tutoring is to allow the student indicate what his/her trouble is. Once all the weaknesses are identified, I work with the student on different problems to address the issues. I have found throughout my years of school that working on different examples and problems is the best way to learn subjects like math and science. For science related subjects, I also like to explain the concepts behind the equations used. I have found this deepens the understanding of the material and makes it easier to learn.
