My name is Matt and I am currently a 3rd grade teaching assistant in the Ridgewood School District. I am a graduate of Pompton Lakes High School where I played baseball and ran cross country. I was also a team leader for my parish and helped organize weekend retreats. Upon graduation, I attended Rutgers-Newark University where I played baseball all four years. During my time there, I garnered All-State and All-Rookie team honors as a freshman. In July of 2007, I signed a professional contract with the Newark Bears while completing my Undergraduate Degree in Criminal Justice. At the end of our championship season, I wanted to stay involved with baseball and accepted a job offer from Professional Baseball Instruction as a coach and instructor of children from the ages of 3 to 18.
In the Spring of 2009, I went back for my Masters Degree in Education at Montclair State University. I completed my student teaching in Newark and graduated Cum Laude with a 3.5 GPA. I currently still coach and instruct after school and tutor on my own time before school with students from the classroom. I love what I do and find every challenge a student faces a journey. I take pride in my work ethic and finding solutions to every problem. My goal with both the players I work with and the students I teach is to help them develop a love for learning and become self sufficient. There is no greater sense of accomplishment than to watch a child's face light up after working diligently on a problem or assignment and having them come to the conclusion on their own.
