Hello students and parents!
My name is Anthony and I am a writer who has studied in the Jesuit tradition at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. My background in English is heavily rooted in the craft of language and backgrounds in English studies. My areas of expertise extend to creative writing, Irish fiction, journalism, poetry, American short stories, screenwriting, and inventive non-fiction.
After receiving my English degree, I went on to work as the East Coast editor for Sonic Eclectic Magazine, where I would oversee and direct the team of writers while guiding their stories and encouraging them in the editing process to reach their fullest potential. Currently, I am an assistant writer and storyteller for a Pennsylvania scriptwriting company with an emphasis on heartfelt stories with lessons behind them. For the past six years, I have tutored privately and worked with both high school and college students, as well as a number of adults. I approach each student with the understanding that there is no such thing as a person who "can't write", just a person who has not yet cultivated the literary voice already contained within. The written word is our most primitive means of communicating thoughts and ideas, and I make it my duty to assist students in discovering their own perspective that is unique to them. By working together, one on one, I utilize a series of prompts and writing exercises that help establish the student's thoughts to cohesively materialize--first in thought, then on paper.
I put together specific lesson plans that are specially tailored to each individual student, because no two are alike. I am very flexible and down to Earth, and my methods can quickly and easily adapt in congruence with the progress and understanding of the student.
I have worked with high school students and college students, but welcome clients of all ages, and for all academic purposes. Whether you're a high school student finding difficulty in accessing the literature in your class, or if you're a parent whose grade school child has a problem understanding story elements and themes, I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Whether you're looking for grammar police or even if you're an aspiring writer looking for a mentor to guide you in something you're working on, I am happy to oblige.
Thank you!
