I believe that learning can be fun and rewarding and lead to great future opportunities. I also believe that everybody has the potential to learn. I know someone who had to repeat one year in middle school, then skipped ahead one year in high school, went to college and got a Ph.D. from Stanford. It's an extreme example, but illustrates the point.
When tutoring I try to build on the student's understanding and help the student to acquire good understanding of the basics of a subject, not just the answers. I believe that the answers will come once a subject is really understood. With a foundational understanding also comes motivation and interest in the subject and a love of learning.
I have a strong background in math, physics and engineering, having studied them in college and graduate school with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Princeton University. I tutored math and engineering in college and was a teaching assistant in graduate school. I have 17 years experience working in academia and the business world.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to help you not only improve your academic performance but also gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter and love for learning!
