With two children of my own, I understand the difficulties kids have in grasping math concepts. While earning my BS at Boston University, and my MS at Rochester Institute of Technology, both in Computer Engineering, I tutored both college students and area elementary/high school students in math and computer science.

Most children struggle with math since it looks different (numbers instead of letters), and they don't know when/if they are getting the right answer. I make learning math fun by going beyond the numbers (and symbols for the Algebra students) and applying everyday situations to help explain difficult math concepts. I will also not tell my students whether they got the right answer; I will teach them methods to verify their own work so they can prove, both to me and themselves, that they got the right answer. Being able to apply math concepts to their daily routines and boosting their confidence will produce children who are no longer adverse to doing math.

With older children, and adults entering/returning to the work-force, I firmly believe that excelling in the job market requires computer programming skills. I have successfully tutored college students and older co-workers on basic computer programming concepts. I am proficient in Python, Perl, SQL, and HTML.

Computer Engineering

I have been a Python programmer for the past 14 years, creating automated tests for various software products. in addition, both my Bachelor and Masters degrees are in Computer Engineering. For my Masters degree, I specialized in Integrated Circuit design, and was the teaching assistant for a Logic Design course.

Computer Programming

I currently work as a computer programmer, writing automated scripts to verify software functionality. I am proficient in Python, Perl, SQL, HTML, and many other programming languages. I have successfully mentored co-workers with zero programming experience, and they now work for me as guru-worthy programmers of their own.

Computer Science

I have a been a computer programmer for the past 14 years. I am proficient in many program languages, including Python, Perl, Java, and C. I also have experience in both Windows and Unix environments.

Hard Of Hearing

I have bilateral hearing lost (high frequency) believed to be from birth. I have worn hearing aids since I was four years old, and understand first-hand the difficulties of being hearing impaired while in a mainstream classroom. I know basic American Sign Language, and have mostly relied on lip reading throughout my life.

I currently work as a computer programmer, writing automated scripts in Python to verify software functionality. I find Python to be a very easy language to learn because it reads just like English. I have successfully mentored co-workers with zero programming experience who are now guru-worthy Python programmers of their own.

Responsive, Great Communication, Positive, and Accurate! Eric responded almost instantly to my initial question, gave me specific Do-It-Yourself advice (in plain language), and offered a solution to a problem that others had not been able to help with - FAST. He got to work and had the project done as promised, on time, and at reasonable cost. VERY happy with Eric's service and will call again when the next Excel puzzle comes up! ...
