I have 5 years experience teaching high school mathematics - algebra 1 and geometry - in a classroom setting and held certification to teach mathematics in the State of Virginia from 2007 to 2012. I also have 1 year experience teaching high school chemistry. I have worked as a private tutor for almost 2 years, tutoring students in high school through college mathematics (pre-algebra to calculus) and science (physical science, chemistry, and physics). I graduated from MIT with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering - so along the way I took many math and science courses and now have a great deal of familiarity with the concepts and skills of math and science. Students (and parents) frequently report a great improvement in understanding, proficiency, and enjoyment of math and science after working with me.
I have taught algebra 1 for three years and geometry for five years - two of the main subjects on the ACT test. I have also tutored algebra 2, pre-calculus, and SAT prep since the spring. I have just started tutoring in ACT math prep as well so have some experience there and finally have good test taking and problem solving skills that I share with my students.
My major in college was in civil/environmental engineering so I have a strong background in science. I also taught chemistry for a year and have been tutoring it for the past year and a half. Finally, I have experience successfully completing the science portions of the ACT test.
I have 3 years experience teaching algebra 1 in a classroom setting. I have also tutored many students in pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, and SAT prep (which involves a good deal of algebra) since this past winter. Finally, I reviewed and retaught many algebra skills with my geometry students during the 5 years that I taught geometry.
I have tutored algebra 2 and precalculus (which uses much of the same knowledge and skills) this past year. I have also taught algebra 1, the prerequisite for algebra 2, for three years. Having attended MIT and majoring in civil engineering, I have a strong math background and many math skills.
I taught high school chemistry for 1 year, which included Regular and Honors Chemistry and a Chemistry 2 course for seniors. In college I took several advanced chemistry courses including chemical thermodynamics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I also have recently tutored in chemistry.
I have five years experience teaching high school geometry. I have also tutored in geometry and in SAT prep (which involves quite a bit of geometry). I have also recently taken a college level geometry class (for my teaching certification).
Many skills needed in pre-algebra are then used in algebra and geometry. I have 3 years experience teaching algebra 1 and 5 years experience teaching geometry. I also have tutored in pre-algebra and many later math subjects (algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, advanced math).
I have 3 years of algebra teaching experience and 5 years of geometry teaching experience and have been tutoring in these subjects, as well as SAT Math, for the past year and a half. Recently, I have also tutored some students in PSAT Math. I would feel most comfortable helping students with the math portion (and not the English portion).
I have 5 years experience teaching algebra and geometry - 2 of the main subject areas on the SAT math test. Also, I have good problem solving skills that I can teach to you and I can classify the different test questions into categories so that you can focus on the areas where you need the most help. Finally, I have already tutored several students in math SAT prep this year and so am very familiar with the questions.
I have three years experience preparing students for the Algebra 1 SOL and five years experience preparing students for the Geometry SOL and I have the same number of years experience teaching those subjects. I have also tutored in algebra 1 and geometry. Finally, I have prepared students for the SAT, which is another standardized test that requires algebra and geometry knowledge.

Great tutor — Diana was instrumental in helping me catch up in both Geometry and Chemistry. As I fell behind in both subjects, I felt I needed to hear a different voice other than that of my teachers to better grasp the material. Diana was the perfect choice. She was prepared, patient and reassuring, which gave me the confidence to move forward. I am very happy I took the chance on getting tutoring help from D ...
