Dear Potential Students and Parents/Guardians,
I am a rising junior at Elon University in North Carolina, where I am a member of the Teaching Fellows scholarship program. I am a Special Education and Elementary Education double major and have a strong passion for not only helping my students become competent in the subjects that they study but also inspiring an enjoyment for learning by including their personal interests. I have been working with students who are both mainstreamed and differently abled in various contexts (including Taekwondo studios, camps, and formal classroom settings) since the age of eight. Additionally, I have spent the past 4 months teaching students both in a public school and an orphanage in San Jose, Costa Rica, in hopes of developing Spanish language skills as well as gaining a broader understanding of global education.
I am willing to adhere to the needs of my students; I am comfortable tutoring a student if he or she learns best while sitting at a desk or laying down on the floor. As long as the student is comfortable and willing to learn, I am happy to work with him or her. I see my students as individuals whose needs are equally important to one another, and I do not believe that any student is incapable of overcoming any personal challenges. I believe that open communication between both my student and I, as well as the student and his or her guardian about their progress is crucial to success.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you or your student. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.
