I have been teaching Latin for 9 years at a New Jersey Public High School and am certified in the state of New Jersey. I tutor one-to-one because it gives students an opportunity to gain experience with the language from a classroom teacher.
I use Hans Orberg's Lingua Latina: Familia Romana in my classroom combined with an active method - i.e., reading, writing, speaking, listening - and teach levels I through V. I have, however, used Ecce Romani, Cambridge Latin, Oxford Latin, Latin for Americans, and Jenny at various times and can support these texts. I follow the 2009 New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards in my classroom with modifications necessary to teaching the Classical languages as set out by the American Classical Association.
