I am a math teacher with almost a decade of experience. I have taught various grade levels, as well as subject material. I started teaching in middle school, but currently teach college level mathematics. My expertise is in developmental mathematics and algebra. I believe in multiple approaches to a problem and focus on the reasoning, not the answer. A student that understands 'how' to approach a math question is better equipped than a student that is taught a set method.

Algebra 1

The introduction of algebraic concepts. In algebra 1 students are taught how to solve and construct one variable equations. They work through solving linear equations and graphing equations in two variables. It also introduces exponents and some of the rules.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 reviews the foundation of algebra 1, and incorporates multiple variables. Students learn the rules how to work with fractional variables, graphing and solving two or more variable equations,inequalities, and inequalities. Students learn to construct, solve and check real world problems. They also learn how to manipulate an equation in terms of another variable

Geometry

Emphasis on logic proofs. Students given information must use determine sequential steps to prove the specified info. There are three approaches to logic proofs and each presents the same information. There are numerous axioms and postulates that must be known for the proofs, and solving geometric figures.

Prealgebra

An introduction to variables. The number-line is labeled and the different types of numbers are defined. Students manipulate simple equations, and practice constructing equations based on real world applications. There is minimal geometry incorporated.

Precalculus

The course introduces and defines a function. Students work with a function algebraically and through graphing. Log and exponential functions are introduced, and the basic rules.
