I was a private tutor for one year and four months for a family in Connecticut. I worked with a 14-year-old boy in social studies, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. Vocabulary

I will introduce vocabulary words to students by using them in sentences. I will encourage students to think of synonyms and antonyms for the new words, and I will provide my own examples. For older students, I will discuss the connotation of words and the contexts in which a particular word is likely to be used. Lastly, I will instruct them to use the word in a sentence, and to write the sentence.

Geography

I learned geography from studying maps, atlases, reference books, and from visiting places. I am knowledgeable about nations, capital cities, natural features, political systems, and demographics.

English

I am skilled to tutor students in reading, spelling, grammar, essay writing, parts of speech, revising, proofreading, and editing. I earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Quinnipiac University, a private institution in Hamden, Connecticut.

Elementary Math

I will teach addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, mixed numbers, fractions, estimation, and concepts related to money. I will incorporate realistic examples to help students master these skills. I will teach students to show their work.
