I'm an experienced, published author with a BA/Journalism. I tutor students of all ages in reading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, help with writing assignments, and also proofread written papers. I am CRLA Certified College Reading Level
Association and I currently tutor at a local college and also tutor elementary school students. I like to help my students think and put their thoughts on paper; I help them formulate ideas and love to see their work through to fruition. My sense of humor is an added bonus.

I believe the more words one knows how to use properly, the more well-rounded one becomes. I still use the old fashioned dictionary in addition to spell check because sometimes I learn a new word or two.

Grammar

Proper use of grammar in all types of writing. From verb tenses to proper nouns, I know what to do, how it should be written and am an expert.

Reading

Reading is the basis for all we do in life. No matter what we need to read, we need to know how. I am a lover of reading; ever since I can recall I have read anything and everything that interests me. Examining content is important while reading and I can show you how.

Writing

As a writer for most of my life, I know how words work together for the best outcome. I am a published author with articles in Cat Fancy Magazine, a local newspaper, magazine and press releases. I love to write. I am passionate about the written word and how to help students master the skill. Writing is important to communicate whether it is via email or a written report or proposal.

English

Again, my background in writing and journalism gives me the experience to teach the proper use of the language and all of its variables.

Literature

There are so many books that are classics and should always have a place in our world.
They stand the test of time and are well written in addition to an example of great writing. I love to read and have many books in my home; I keep them to reread and consider them a comfort. A real book will never take the place of a computer in my opinion.

Proofreading

Most important is the finished format of the written report, proposal or email. Misspelled words or improper grammar is not a good thing and does not appear professional.

SAT Reading

SAT reading prep is important to the student because they have to know how to read and comprehend the subject matter in order to answer the questions. I have reading comp exercises I provide to the student to help them study and succeed for the SAT reading portion.

SAT Writing

Writing is the basis for all things we do whether we realize it or not. Good writing is essential, especially in the technology age; emails, texts, etc. are a fast way to communicate and in the business world it is professional and needed to have good writing skills.
