Hello & Welcome!
I am currently a Kindergarten Teacher, finishing my 5th year. I LOVE what I do and work to make sure my students enjoy it too. My Kindergarten experiences entailed all subject areas (literacy, math, science & social studies), but I feel especially skilled in literacy. I use pre, post and ongoing assessments to make sure that my students are mastering the given objectives, which get us to the end goal. How do I get my students there? Well, in my regular class I do whole-group instruction as well as small-group focus groups. My students also support their objectives through the use of daily center groups. When it comes to personalized tutoring, I think you have hit the jackpot! One-on-one instruction is the key to a child's success. All my lessons will be catered to your child's needs and I will meet them where they are, but challenge them enough so that we will see growth and love for learning. My teaching/learning environment is welcoming and fun but also very hard working with high expectations. I believe in ALL my students and that they ALL can learn and grow if provided with the right instruction. Some specific examples of literacy areas I would focus on in grades K-2 are: phonics skills (letters & sounds, reading/writing using blending/sounding out, rhyming words), reading skills (pointing with finger for tracking, blending/sounding out, chunking, using picture as help, etc.), writing (start with picture, letters through sounds, writing basic sentences, capitalization, punctuation) and vocabulary necessary for any elementary school student (Dolche Word list/Also called Word Wall Words in some classrooms). Of course, the areas that I would focus on are based on your child's needs.
I really look forward to working with you and your child and helping them reach THEIR potential. Please contact me if you are interested in my services or if you have any questions.
Thank you for taking the time to make your child's future a brighter one.
P.S. I also notice that a large number of students come into school in September not where they left for the summer. This is due to a lack of practice/educational engagement in the summer. I especially encourage parents to work with their children in the summer, or request mine or any other tutoring services so that your child can go back to school ready to go! My schedule in the summer as a teacher is especially WIDE open. :)
