Hi! My name is Nicole. I am a recent graduate from Montclair State University. I have spent the last five years majoring in Elementary Education. For my last year, I have student taught in a first grade classroom. I am familiar with the basics of reading and writing.I have implemented creative lessons which have kept my students engaged in their learning. I am a very enthusiastic person and I love encouraging children to do their best in their work. I am very patient and take my time while teaching, patience is essential when teaching. I am also very organized and plan things well in advanced, from personal experience, organization makes things go smoothly. I am also a very personable and outgoing person, I get along with everyone. Phonics

I have spent the last year in a first grade classroom, therefore I have become familiar with phonics. I am aware of the different sounds that vowels make, for example their long sounds as well as their short sounds. I am aware of vowel teams, for example /ea/. I also know about word families, for example -igh. As well as the sound that it makes, -igh makes the long /i/ sound.

Study Skills

Study skills are very important. It is imperative to be organized and to be able to mange time efficiently. The best way to study is to first to figure out how you learn, for example, if you are a kinesthetic learner, it may help if you write down the important things you need to study. If you are a visual learner it may help to use index cards.
