Drums:

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I have been playing drums since the age of 7 (40 years). I started in the school bands and marching band, took private lessons for a time and then began joining my own bands. I started professionally by sitting in with my Father's jazz quartet, and then joining other bands, playing different styles of music - rock, jazz, heavy metal, folk rock, blues and country. These included both cover and original bands. I am still active in several bands. In addition to drumset, I play marching snare, tympani, tabla, doumbek and conga.

My teaching style is one of patient mentoring, with attention to detail and accuracy. We begin with the 40 Rudiments of the Percussive Arts Society, and then we go to the appropriate area of study, depending on the student's needs, desires and equipment.

I have been teaching for sixteen years, privately and at an instructional studio. If interested, please contact me through WyzAnt.

ESL:

I have been teaching ESL since 2008. I use Skype/webcam and all of my students have been in Korea. I can teach in person as well.

Each lesson begins with conversational English; I then move to exercises and dictation, and work with synonyms, homonyms, antonyms, etc.

I look forward to meeting your instructional needs.

Thank You,
Dan

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

Since August of 2008, I have been an Online ESL Instructor - mostly for students living in South Korea. I was referred to this by a teacher friend living in the Philippines, who does the same, and knew that students would appreciate a Native Speaking ESL Instructor.

I use Skype and webcam to give the lessons. I begin with approximately 15 minutes of conversational English on a specific topic; I correct every little miscue that I hear. This is followed by 5 to 10 minutes of dictation, and correction of typing. Finally, I give quizzes on homonyms and idioms, which usually give the student many new words in their English vocabulary.

The lesson is an hour long, and the response has been great. Students feel that they are learning and retaining a great deal.

Thank you for your time,
Daniel DeRienzo
