If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ballet

I know correct form for ballet and am experienced in working with dancers to get strong results. I will take your dancing to the next level of expertise.

Bible Studies

I have excellent familiarity with the New Testament, including specifics as well as interpretation, and can assist students to look at these writings as part of both literary and sacred traditions.

College Counseling

I have worked extensively with college-bound high school students, as well as first and second year college students. In addition, I have worked in the EOF program of a large state college, mentoring students in advance of their freshman year of college, and teaching them reading, writing, and study/time management skills to apply across the spectrum of their studies. The college application essay is another area in which I have extensive experience.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am state certified to teach English/Language Arts from grades K-12. My nearly 20 years of teaching experience, great patience, and approachability serve me well in dealing with students. So much can be accomplished in the one-on-one setting. I have extensive experience working with students to foster their reading, critical thinking, interpretive, and analytical skills.

English

My extensive experience in teaching English helps me communicate concepts in a quick, understandable, and enjoyable manner. You will get a wealth of information and background, and approach literature in an entirely new and exciting way. Let's get started!

Literature

Everyone can understand, analyze, discuss, and enjoy literature if the right teacher is at hand. Let me be the person who opens the door to a new appreciation of the written word. I will show you the skills and approach to fully absorb and understand the world of literature.

Phonics

My nearly twenty years' experience and state certification in language arts enables me to increase students' reading ability, fluency, and phonemic awareness. I will explain the sounds each letter and letter combination can make, and provide strategies for sounding out words. Phonics study can unlock the reading process through helping students recognize and decode the words they encounter.

Proofreading

If you want it said correctly, concisely, and clearly, you will find it here. My proofreading and copyediting services will make your writing shine. I handle all written work, from essay to report, web content to poem, and love it all. You will be amazed at the results.

Public Speaking

I have taught business and professional writing, which has a strong emphasis on the basics of effective public speaking skills. In addition, all of my classes infuse public communication in terms of presentations required by students, and I am thoroughly capable of instructing students in this area.

SAT Reading

I have 20 years experience teaching critical reading and writing to all levels. For the last 10 years (and currently) a professor of critical writing and literature at a college in New Jersey.

Having taught for nearly 20 years, I have a wealth of suggestions and tips to get the best results from study time. I offer a plan for organization, time management, test-taking skills, etc. Putting in place a strong study routine is one of the most important skills you can acquire for life-long results.

Writing

Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught thousands of students the keys to solid, clear, and powerful writing. No matter your level or the type of writing you need to do (for school, work, or personal enjoyment), my approach will be tailored to your needs and interests. You will never be so impressed with your own writing ability, or get such positive feedback from others!
