Throughout my experiences, I have come to believe that one’s education comes in a variety of forms and continues throughout one’s life. Outside of my formal education, I was fortunate enough to have grown up in a multicultural family that believed in traveling as the best form of education. I not only traveled to places like Egypt and Italy before becoming a teacher, but had also visited many of the states on the east coast and some of the Midwest. Perhaps my most influential experience was the three and a half years I spent immersed in the Hawaiian culture while attending the University of Hawaii. My collection of experiences from traveling led to my love for other cultures and later inspired my passion for teaching Spanish
and its cultural components.
In terms of my formal education, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education at Montclair University. I am currently working towards returning to school to complete a Masters Degree in Special Education. Before coming to Morristown High School, I worked in a variety of settings gaining experience with diverse student populations. In conjunction with my diverse experience in different settings, I have also honed a variety of teaching strategies and lessons. Every day I learn new things about my content area, my students, and myself. Teaching requires patience, compassion, understanding, and passion - all things that make me who I am. From the first day in a classroom, my goal has been to create an environment where students can feel confident so that they can be successful and reach their fullest potential.
I strive to incorporate differentiated activities and assessments into my lessons, inside and outside of the classroom. I am looking to share my passion for teaching with my student outside of my classroom as a Spanish tutor. As a tutor, I will bring with me all the techniques, activities, assessments, and passion present in my own classroom.
