My name is Anuoluwapo, and as international student I have to say I have studied quite a number of ways to grasp different subjects. I generally tutor with an intent of helping my student understand the basis or principles on which complex ideas build. If you know your ABCs you can most likely spell FLABBERGASTED with help.
As for helping my students be better scholars overall, I like to help them find their study patterns, and this is unique to every individual. I benefited from finding my study pattern, and I am glad I did.
If you do consider me to be your tutor, remember one thing, "we are always going to shoot for the top, because the bottom is just too crowded with mediocrity".
Personally, I was not the best of students academically while I was growing up, but I was able to get an understanding of learning as I progressed. And as a start I first helped my younger brother out with the difficulties he was facing academically, he is doing very well in school now. I worked with NJIT center for Pre-college programs for 2 summers, and it really helped me to grasp an understanding of the different hurdles High-school students need to cross to unleash their potential. I tutored over 50 kids in total over those two summers, and I received feedback that a couple of them went on to do great the following school year. I also held a physics
study group in my first year of college, and I was able to help my classmates achieve their goals respectfully.
I believe in making things interesting, finding the common ground between myself and my students, and pulling out solutions to their academic problems, from there. I'll use Oranges and Apples to solve an algebraic problem, if my student loves apples and Oranges.
