Hello, I have officially been tutoring Math, Science, English, and Spanish in public schools as well as in private settings from the start of my college career year at New Jersey's Institute of Technology. I have worked for the “America Learns Program” and I have also worked for my University as a tutor. Additionally, I have experience tutoring students with special needs in classroom settings for the Newark Public School System and I have served as a tutor for the Newark Public Library, in the city’s Central Business District.

As a Mechanical Engineering student, I have very strong Math and Science skills. I have a genuine interest in these subject areas and I enjoy teaching them. Moreover, I practice them regularly and I can offer guidance on the best ways to approach problems in terms of techniques and tricks that will contribute to your mastery and in depth understanding of the subject.

I am also skilled in various engineering related programs, such as Autodesk Inventor, PTC CREO, and MatLab. I frequently do solid modeling projects for engineering related applications and I am an excellent problem solver.

Given that I have a passion for music, I can also offer Guitar Lessons. I have years of practice and I have been part of a concert band, a jazz band, drum major of my high school marching band and even President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter of my High School.

Being born and having lived in a Spanish speaking country for many years of my life and attending school there, as well as here in the United States, I can fluently speak, write, and translate English and Spanish. As a result, I have also been contracted as an in classroom tutor for bilingual classes in the Newark Public School System. Likewise, I have also tutored various students learning English in different age ranges, dramatically increasing the speed and accuracy with which they have learned the language.

My tutoring approach is personalized and engaging. I adapt to my students to ensure that they are grasping the topic at hand thoroughly. This means that I am constantly aware of my teaching speed and my students feedback to ensure that they are comfortable and confident about the material.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is a fundamental level of math which should be mastered thoroughly by every student. Almost every subject depends on concepts covered in Algebra 1 and therefore an Algebra 1 tutor can truly have a positive effect on future math and science courses. I have been practicing higher levels of algebra for years and I can be very efficient in breaking it down into logical and understandable steps.

Algebra 2

I can help you improve your algebra skills significantly in a short period of time by providing you with a wide array of techniques and an easy breakdown of the subject, so that you can easily master it and improve your grades quickly and efficiently. This is one of my favorite subjects and I am sure that you will quickly gain a greater appreciation and a deeper understanding of the subject, which is also fundamental for nearly everything related to math and science.

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for six years and I can read sheet music in both the treble clef and the bass clef since I also play the trombone.I can also read guitar tabs and I have been deeply involved in playing music for years, including being a part of three different bands. I taught myself how to play the guitar and I was trained in playing trombone, therefore, I can be very helpful in regards to showing students how they can improve their skills on their own as well as providing students with a strong foundation for the development of their guitar playing.

Precalculus

Precalculus is a very interesting subject when it is understood and I have studied it in great detail for this reason. I can help you with techniques that will allow you to quickly and easily learn elements that are essential to precalculus, such as easy ways to learn the entire unit circle, and ways to be able to derive and remember trigonometric identities. I can also help you master key concepts of the subject that will help you reach a deeper and more thorough understanding. If you need help reviewing for upcoming tests I can also be extremely helpful by providing you with great insight and resources.

SAT Math

Conquering the Math section of the SAT comes down to having a fresh recollection of the topics that you have been taught in your math courses and practicing them enough to be able to confront any problem that the test may throw at you. My approach focuses on making sure that your have the necessary practice to perform well on the test, backed by a firm base of the geometry and algebra skills that are necessary to tackle any problem and dissect it quickly, despite of its difficulty. This includes reinforcing your algebra skills and providing the best possible resources to ease your learning process and ensure your success.

Spanish

Spanish is my first language and I practice it everyday. I was born in a Spanish speaking country and I went to school there for various years. In addition, I love my Hispanic heritage and I can provide interesting knowledge about our cultures and traditions. I can also perform verbal and written translations between English and Spanish. Likewise, I have officially served as a Spanish tutor in public schools as well as an English tutor for ESL students ranging from middle school to college. Moreover, I have helped newly arrived ESL students dramatically and effectively increase the rate at which they learn English, and thus have helped them excel in college.
