Can you use a calculator on the asvab test?

Can you use a calculator on the asvab test?

Babatunde's Answer:

The answer is "No"

Calculators are not allowed on the ASVAB test. Now some people may argue why not but the reason is part of the testing. They give you math operations that can be easily performed without need for calculator and that way they are testing your ability to be able to be perform these operations without calculator help. This is incorporated into the test itself but some people are so in love with calculators that they feel at disadvantage whenever they tell them they can't use a calculator.

Study the multiplication table very well and you will not have a need for a calculator on the test.

Babatunde's Answer:

for fraction the symbol you need is the division symbol "÷" Now not sure what calculator you have but some calculators also have the forward slash symbol "/" which can be used as well.

Keep in mind that to enter the fraction, you need to enter the numerator(top number) first then the symbol (either ÷ or / ) and next you enter the denominator(bottom number)

Babatunde's Answer:

3/16 - 1/2

You want to make the denominators the same.
So what number do you multiply by 2 to get 16? That number is 8. So you multpily the numerator and denomiator of the (1/2) by 8
So you will have:

3/16 - (1*8)/(2*8) = 3/16 - 8/16

Now since denominators are the same, we can then easily add/subtract the numerators

(3-8)/16 = -5/16

If you have any question about this solution let me know.
