My name is Christine and I hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stony Brook University. I graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.

I have been studying the Spanish language for over 12 years, and I have 7 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I am well versed in both Spanish and English grammar rules and composition. I have studied the literatures, cultures and histories of the Spanish-speaking world, and I am familiar with both the current and historical politics of the region. I have traveled to Peru, the Dominican Republic, and the United Kingdom. I write and speak Spanish fluently with a native accent.

My passion is teaching and opening new worlds to those who desire to discover them. My students are diverse and of all different ages. I have an open mind-set but I stress discipline, and I am always open to new teaching opportunities. Contact me today so we can work together in reaching your goals!

College Counseling

I would be happy to help your son or daughter develop a comprehensive game plan for completing college applications and writing personal statements. As a high school senior, I was accepted to every school to which I applied, including the prestigious Davidson College. I look forward to hearing from you so that we can work together in achieving your goals.

English

I would be happy to help in the area of English composition and grammar. I can work with material you have or we can start from scratch. I like to focus on small details such as punctuation, as well as on style and organization. This will allow you to express yourself more clearly and accurately. I look forward to hearing from you!

ESL/ESOL

I would be happy to help anyone who is looking to learn English as his/her Second Language. I take a conversational and practical approach to teaching English.

¿Es usted hispanohablante y busca ayuda en aprender el inglés? Mi deseo es abrir el mundo de inglés a los que desean entenderlo. Por favor, escríbame hoy con sus preguntas y otras comunicaciones.

Grammar

Grammar, as well as writing, can seem elusive to those who never studied it. We use it all the time, but often we don't understand its nature. As a professional Spanish and English tutor and teacher, I can help you appreciate and grasp the various rules and reasons behind English and Spanish grammar and writing. Please contact me today!

Social Studies

As an undergraduate student, I majored in Political Science specializing in International Relations. I would be happy to help your son or daughter improve their understanding of elementary or high school Social Studies.

Sociology

Sociology is a field of study closely related to Political Science. In college, I aced a number of classes focusing on Income Inequality, Distribution of Resources, Racial Demographics of the U.S. and Latin America, Urban Dynamics, and more. I thoroughly enjoyed my work in Sociology and I would be happy to help anyone who is looking to improve in that subject area.

Spanish

I take a very strategic approach when it comes to teaching Spanish. I believe it is important to learn the grammar step-by-step, since our brains do not process information the same way they did when we were children. Nevertheless, knowledge of the culture and values of any language system are paramount when it comes to learning that language. I thoroughly enjoy teaching my students about the different idiosyncrasies of Spanish so that they can gain a greater appreciation for them. I look forward to hearing from you so you too can learn to speak one of the most widely spoken languages in the world!

Study Skills

Throughout my high school and college career, I learned to master the art of studying, completing assignments accurately and on time, and test-taking. I graduated magna cum laude and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. I would be happy to help you find ways to improve your test scores, written assignments, and any other academic projects you may have. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

World History

As a student at Stony Brook University, I majored in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. I graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I studied both the politics and the history of diverse countries from every continent and learned how their past continues to affect their present. Please contact me today so we can discuss your goals for succeeding in World History!

Stony Brook University (Political Science)

Great tutor, knowledgeable and professional! Christine is an outstanding professional. She is knowledgeable, very organized and proficient, and she is never late. She has a very cheerful personality, and is a wonderful role model for kids of any age. She connected easily with my rebellious teen daughter, whose school report stated for Spanish as "in danger of failure." I liked Christine's WyzAnt profile because she stated an understanding an ...
