I am an experienced high school teacher that has spent her entire educational career in one place. And I love it.
Teaching is a second career for me. I came to teaching in 1999, specifically to teach chemistry and physics because I had a wonderful high school teacher who not only taught me chemistry, but also encouraged me to think for myself. He encouraged a girl in the early 1980's to study science, which was still a relatively rare occurrence. I just want to give back a little of what he gave me. Some students struggle in either chemistry or physics and my goal is to help them through this struggle and to come through the other side if not with my love of the subject but at least with an appreciation of it and a solid understanding.
My formal teaching experience includes teaching high school chemistry at all levels, including AP. I have been the AP chemistry teacher in my school now for 5 full school years and continue this year. Prior to that, I also taught several years of college prep physics, one year of honors physics, and several years of general physical science.
Each one of my 13 full school years included at least 1 section of college preparatory chemistry.
I have done home instruction in both chemistry and physics.
