Hi!
I'm a recent Cornell graduate in Montvale, NJ and I love kids and I love to teach! So naturally, when looking for part-time work while I study for my own exams (GREs) and apply to graduate programs, tutoring seemed to be the perfect choice for me.
I am currently working at a learning center in Closter, specializing in reading and writing for incoming 5th, 6th, 7th, and 11th graders. I also see several clients privately for homework help in other subjects.
In high school, I also tutored remedial algebra (helping to raise one peer's grade from a D to an A) and worked at my high school writing center. As a senior, I was entrusted with leading a day-long workshop on college essay writing for our juniors.
In my senior year at Cornell, I worked closely with troubled elementary kids as part of a clinical psychology field practicum course. I've also been heavily involved on campus as a peer adviser executive board member and peer counselor-in-training at our school's crisis hotline.
I am happy to work with students of all ages. I love working with younger children, but can relate pretty well to younger and older teens, being so close in age to them myself. I think when it comes to kids, playtime is essential, but boundaries are important too. Whatever age group I am working with, I am committed to helping your child reach his or her educational goals as quickly as possible, and at providing high-quality tutoring and care in the comfort of your own home, at low cost to you.
Please contact me if you are interested in getting to know more about me, why I might be a good fit for you, and how to get your student the care and attention he or she deserves.
