"To be, or not to be" is that the question? Whether you need assistance with understanding a piece of literature, writing a paper, or studying for a test in English, I can help you succeed.

I'm currently a senior at The College of New Jersey, and I have been privy to their excellent English and Education programs. I will be student teaching in the fall and graduating in December. English is a subject in which I've always excelled, and I can help you do the same.

I have had experience tutoring, observing classrooms, and teaching 12th grade English through programs at The College of New Jersey. This has helped me to understand tutoring and teaching methods that work and promote learning. Please contact me if you are interested in help with middle school or high school English tutoring. I would love to be a part of your learning experience and help you achieve all your goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Grammar

Grammar can be a struggle for any student. My Teaching Writing course at The College of New Jersey has taught me many techniques to assist students in their acquisition of grammar skills in fun and simple ways. I am confident I can help any student with comma rules, complex sentences, avoiding fragments, and many other common grammatical errors. Understanding grammar is important in any professional writing, and I love helping students master the skills they need for the future.

Literature

Literature is what I love most about English. I have taken a variety of different literature classes including: Issues in Multicultural Literature, Poetry, Global Women Writers, 19th Century British Novels, (Western) Women's Literature, Seminar in Research and Theory (Focuses: Dostoevsky & Black British Literature), U.S. Satire, Modern European Drama, and Shakespeare. Through my experience in these classes, I have spent a lot of time analyzing and writing about literature in a multitude of different ways. This has provided me with a strong understanding of literature and the ability to impart that knowledge on others.

Proofreading

Proofreading is a large part of my experience at college. I proofread all of my own papers, but I also proofread other students' papers all the time. I have a peer-review group for most of my classes, and this has allowed me to gain a lot of experience proofreading other people's writing.

Reading

There is no better way to spend your time than completely engrossed in a book. I love to read, and I love helping students learn to love reading as well. I love to help students read more critically and deeply. Strong reading skills will stick with you throughout your lifetime and constantly reward you. Everyone is capable of falling in love with reading and developing the skills to do it well. I would love to be a guide along the journey.

Writing

As an English major, writing is what I do for my school work most of the time. This has provided me with a lot of experience on all levels of the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, writing, and proofreading. Also, I have completed the Teaching Writing course at TCNJ where I learned many fun and interesting techniques to teach students writing. Overall, I love writing and helping others work through the writing process.
