Every educator’s teaching philosophy is as unique as a fingerprint; mine is “All children can learn, just not the same way or the same day.” I truly believe that all children can learn, with patience and a willingness to take a different approach. With a VAK (visual, auditory and kinetic) learning style and Gardner’s multiple intelligence principle in mind, it is possible to reach any student. This becomes uncomplicated when one has the ability to converse with children on their own level rather than talking at them. Not only does this build a level of trust, with which students more eagerly ask for help, but also grants a feeling of self worth.
School is like a home away from home for me. This level of comfort aided in my attainment of my Associates in Education, Bachelors in History and Masters in Elementary Education. Additionally I am certified in Elementary Education and Middle School Science in PA., soon Middle School Math will be added to this growing list. I plan on expanding my knowledge through out my life by continuing my education.
For me, teaching is not just a paycheck, it is a calling and a passion. The dedication I feel toward those in my charge has always been reflected by their exuberant greetings and gloomy farewells. While student teaching, I initiated an after school tutoring club and also coordinated the school’s first science fair in many years. Opportunities like these, in which a pupil can cultivate not only their knowledge, but their interest, is essential to an enriched educational experience. It is evident that I am the ideal educator for this position.
