My name is Mrs. W. I have 14 years' experience teaching in New Jersey. I have taught all subjects over the years and most grades between Kindergarten and 8th grade. I have three certifications: Elementary School Teacher, Teacher of Business, and Reading Specialist. Currently, I am a Reading Specialist in a K-8 school district. For the last ten years, however, I was the 6th grade mathematics teacher.

I have always been a great resource to my students. I believe that all children can learn~but some adjustments may need to be made in how they are taught. I love teaching and helping students, especially those who struggle. Whatever the difficulty the student is having, I can help! I am especially effective in the following grades and subjects:

Reading - Kindergarten - Adult; Math - Kindergarten - 8th grade (including Pre-Algebra and Algebra I); Science - Kindergarten - 8th grade; Social Studies/History - Kindergarten - Adult; Accounting - High School/College; Study Skills - Kindergarten - Adult and many other topics and subjects - just ask!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

In my 14 years as an educator, I have taught many students with ADD/ADHD and helped them to be successful. In addition, my oldest son has ADHD and prior to teaching, I helped him with his schoolwork. I can be highly effective with students with attention difficulties.

Dyslexia

I am a certified Reading Specialist and practice as such currently. I have taught students with dyslexia in reading, math, and science.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught in a K-8 district for 14 years. I have taught most subjects and most grades. I am certified as an elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist.

Handwriting

I currently work with several students within the Wilson Reading Fundations program. In this program, emphasis is on handwriting and legibility. Therefore, I can help if a student is not writing legibly.

Phonics

In my certification process as a Reading Specialist, as well as my current position teaching supplemental reading to students from K-8, I am uniquely qualified to assist students with difficulties relating to Phonics.

Study Skills

With my vast tutoring experience and 14 years in the classroom, I am uniquely qualified to assist students to complete work and organize work into chunks so that they don't feel overwhelmed.

TEAS

This is a test of essential academic skills for prospective nursing students. I have taught/tutored for all of the subjects and feel qualified to help prospective nursing students to study for the exam.
