I am a caring, patient, and easy going tutor. I love to work with elementary aged children to achieve their academic success! My tutoring sessions are fun and engaging. I prefer to use many "hands on" activities to keep my students interested and having fun while learning. I usually like to tutor for approximately 45 minutes so that our time together is used thoroughly and it is most certainly the most advantageous.

I have my Master's degree in Elementary Education and I am a certified tutor. My teaching experience includes my student teaching period, substitute teaching for over one year and currently my experience as an Instructional Aide for 2 Kindergarten classes. My past experience in tutoring includes math, letter and sound recognition, reading, and vocabulary. I also have experience tutoring adults in English as a Second Language and Reading.

Reading

I attended training for teaching adults how to read. I have experience in teaching adults how to speak English as well. I have experience from an elementary classroom to teach children how to read too.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have earned my NJ teaching license for grades K through 5. Also, I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Phonics

I currently assist two Kindergarten teachers with phonics in the classroom. I also assess every student in each class for letter and number recognition and phonics (the sounds of all letters). We use Diebels at our school.

Study Skills

I have experience in tutoring and working with students to enhance their study skills. I provided tips on how to study effectively and I have had tutoring sessions, when I have just helped my students to study for exams and tests.

Basketball

I played basketball during my elementary and high school years. Years ago I completed the certification to referee girls basketball games. I am currently a basketball coach for girls, grades 5th and 6th.

Softball

I played softball while in elementary and high school. I continued to play softball as an adult, as well. I have coached 5th and 6th grade girls on my softball team.
