After spending more than 35 years as a business executive, I am now focusing all of my attention on helping students to learn subjects like Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Accounting, Finance, and special exams such as the ASVAB (military entrance exam), and the GED.

I have an undergraduate degree in Finance and Mathematics and an MBA from Columbia University in Finance.

Here is a short description of the subjects I am currently tutoring.

Elementary/High School Math
If your child is having trouble keeping up in math class it can be detrimental to his or her other subjects. A level of stress and anxiety about can hurt their ability to focus on other subjects. It can be frustrating for a parent to try and help their child with math homework or to help them understand a problem even if the parent is good at math, they may not be good at being a tutor for their child.
I will help your child not only grasp the subject matter, but will create a learning environment that will have your child looking forward to their next lesson and wanting to go back to class and show off their new found math skills.
Please read my reviews and see my ratings – my students all give me high marks

Test Preparation
Do you need help with math, pre-algebra, or algebra 1? Most exams have elements of math as part of the requirements to pass such as the GED and the ASVAB. You not only need to learn the material, you have to learn how test taking techniques as well. Simple tips can increase your scores dramatically. Whether you need to pass that entrance exam for nursing school, GED, ASVAB, or just want to do better

Accounting/Finance
As a former CFO and Controller for both large and small companies, I have experience with instructing both incoming new graduate accountants and also seasoned professionals. As a father of two daughters who are now grown and have careers of their own, and a grandfather of two I have a lot of patience and know how frustrating the subject of accounting can be to someone who is experiencing this new subject for the first time. I will help you through all the spots that you don't understand and will teach you more than just the debits and credits. Accounting can be fun - so if you give it and me a chance you will learn to like it and find that it can be very beneficial now and in your future.

Even if you do not intend on a career in accounting or finance, prospective employers will be happy to see this on your resume.

Accounting

As a former CFO and Controller of both small and large companies, I have the practical experience that classroom teachers don't have in most instances. Being a father of two grown daughters who graduated and are now successful in their careers, I have gone through years of tutoring them and also my nephews and nieces in accounting from basic to managerial. Accounting can be interesting and will help you in your future. Give it and I a chance and we will both have a rewarding experience with your course.

Algebra 1

I was an excellent student in high school in Algebra, Geometry, and calculus. I continued these studies in college with advanced courses along with my studies in finance and accounting. I enjoy working with student in Algebra 1 and have an enormous amount of patience. I hope you will let me help you!

ASVAB

I have an MBA from Columbia University and a BBA from Iona College where I had a double major of Finance and Math. I have many years as a tutor in many subjects including ASVAB, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Finance, Accounting, Grammar, and writing.

Many of my students have gone on the pass and get a high score on the ASVAB as a result of the hard work they put in both during our sessions and by doing the assignments they did outside of the lessons.

In order to pass the ASVAB and get a good score you have to invest the time. I work with my students to make each session a building block and when we are done - they are ready for the exam.

I hope I can help you!

Elementary Math

I was an excellent student in grammar school, high school in Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. I can help you not only understand the subject matter but to relate it to real world situations.
I would be happy to help you.

GED

General Computer

My background as a CFO and COO required me to learn about both computer hardware, software, and networking. I have managed the IT functions in all of my senior management positions, and can teach my students from the very basics to advanced computer functions. I hope I can help you!

Microsoft Excel

During my career as a CFO and Controller for both large and small companies, I honed my skills in all aspects of Microsoft Office, but especially excel. Having to prepare elaborate and complex spreadsheets for budgets and cash flows, I have touched on and stretched the capabilities of Excel.

Whether you are just starting out and wish to understand Excel basics, or need help with more complex features of Excel such as pivot tables, I would be very happy to help you.

Prealgebra

I was an excellent student in high school in Algebra, Geometry, and calculus. I continued these studies in college with advanced courses along with my studies in finance and accounting. I enjoy working with student in Algebra 1 and have an enormous amount of patience. I hope you will let me help you!

QuickBooks

I am an experienced accountant and have used QuickBooks extensively as CFO and Controller of many companies. I am currently using it for two of my own businesses and I have a new student/business who I am tutoring (my last lesson submitted) who needed help resolving the downloading of bank data into QuickBooks which I resolved for her today. I am a member of the QuickBooks ProAdvisor and have the accountant version for use with some of the accounts that I am currently doing bookkeeping for.

Vocabulary

During my 30 plus years as an executive, I honed both my vocabulary and grammar skills. I was required to deliver both oral and written reports to senior executives such as the CEO and also to the board of directors of many companies. I have an executive degree in finance from Columbia University and during that time I was required to deliver many presentations to professors and fellow students.

I have studied Latin in high school which is a root language for English and have studied french as well. I am sure I can help any student especially those with English as a second language perfect their grammar and vocabulary.

It would be my pleasure to help you!
