My name is Nicole, and I am currently a High School English teacher in North Jersey--Bergen County--and I am pursuing a Master's Degree in English at The College of New Jersey. I received my undergraduate degree in December 2010 from TCNJ for English and Secondary Education. I have student taught in a sixth grade and ninth grade classroom, so I have had experience with various grade levels. In high school, I tutored a first and fifth grader in Language Arts and an eleventh grader in Chemistry. In college, I worked at the tutoring center, where I received "Advanced Tutor" recognition and certification. I tutored various courses, including Writing 101/102, all literature courses, and French. I have also tutored on a volunteer-basis for students needing help with the college-application and scholarship essay-writing process.

I have knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher. I use Publisher to create a Newsletter for an organization I am involved in, Excel for a Statistics course I took and for my own personal creation of tables and graphs, PowerPoint for various presentations I have conducted, and Microsoft Office for many papers.

Study Skills

I am currently a HS teacher, but I have also worked with students at various levels (Elementary level to college). One of my key areas of focus is to make sure students have the skills necessary to stay organized and take proper notes before moving onto specific test-taking strategies. I have worked with basic skill level students to honors level students in mastering studying and retention techniques.

Public Speaking

In high school, I was a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and I competed competitively in Public Speaking. As a leader in several organizations at the college level, I also have much experience with Public Speaking as well. As a current HS English Teacher, I continually work with students in perfecting their Oral Communication and Speaking Skills.

Microsoft Windows

I have worked with Microsoft Windows my entire life. As a college graduate and working towards finishing my graduate degree, I am familiar with PC's, specifically Microsoft Windows. I have also worked in helping family members learn the program. Additionally, I have taken several computer courses in my high school career.
