Do you want to prepare for and succeed in college? I taught mathematics at universities for years and can help you excel! The first job of a good tutor is to listen. I will focus on your questions, obstacles, and goals. I will help you to discover and understand the answers to your questions. What about the questions you can’t quite ask? You feel something just doesn’t make sense but you don’t know why. Helping you voice those questions and overcome those obstacles is an important part of what I do. Let me help you learn how and why the pieces fit together. You will gain the knowledge and confidence you need to succeed!
I have been tutoring and teaching since I was in high school myself because I love doing it! During and after earning a Master of Science in mathematics, I spent 8 years teaching at the post-secondary level in universities and community colleges. I have also worked with middle and high school students. Over the years, I have gained experience working with students who have a wide variety of learning styles. For something to ‘click’ it must be presented in a way that makes sense to you based on what you already understand and how you process information. Sometimes diagrams help, sometimes showing how a new technique is a variation of an old one is more helpful. I will find presentations that unlock the mystery and fun of mathematics for you!
I will come to your home or meet you at a mutually convenient location (such as the library). I am happy to work with individuals or groups. Group rates can be negotiated. I am available on weekends and some evenings. I look forward to working with you!
