My name is Robert B. I am an experienced teacher/tutor who will work with your child one-on-one to improve his or her reading, writing and thinking skills. I am a reading specialist and I take a cognitive approach to teaching all subjects. I am a very caring teacher and tutor with over 10 years of experience. I am very happy to help students of all ability levels. I am skilled at teaching reading through the Wilson (Orton) Method as well as other methods. I have a comprehensive reading and math program for middle and high school students and a teach and train cognitive-based method for teaching reading. I utilize books, special worksheets and computer programs to deliver outstanding lessons for my students.
I have received extensive training in cognitive learning and apply these concepts in teaching academic subjects such as history, science, math and English. I also teach reading and math skills using a cognitive skills based approach. I have been very, very successful with children with ADHD and/or anxiety disorders. I utilize the very best techniques including computer learning games and programs that make for a very positive learning experience.
Every tutoring session is based on your child's needs and learning style. I have 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring students. I help high school, middle school and grammar school students with their studies. I also tutor college students. I work with students of all ability levels and interests. I can help improve your son or daughter's grades, attitude towards school and behavior. I have had tremendous success with students who have ADHD, auditory or visual processing disorders, cognitive impairments, anxiety disorders and other problems.

On the college level, I tutor most liberal arts studies such as English, history, and humanities courses. I do have some experience with geology and earth science. I am skilled with students of all different abilities, even with students who have learning disabilities such as ADD and ADHD. Engaging students and making subjects of little interest to students fun and exciting are what I do best. I put a new spin on your school work and show you how to work smarter so you learn in less time.
Students may cancel any weekday appointment by providing 24 hours notice. A cancellation fee of $75.00 shall apply to all lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice has been given. However, lessons cancelled within 3-hours of the scheduled appointment time will be billed for a 90-minute session. The cancellation fee may be waived one time for an extenuating circumstance.
Students may cancel any weekend or legal holiday appointment by cancelling no later than 3 pm on the Friday preceding the weekend appointment. Failure to properly cancel a weekend appointment will result in a cancellation fee equal to a 90-minute lesson. If the legal holiday is NOT a Monday, the student may cancel the appointment without penalty no later 3 pm on the day preceding the legal holiday.
SAT/ACT WEEK CANCEL POLICY
During the week of an ACT or SAT test, students who cancel a lesson scheduled for that week will be billed $150.00. If you need to cancel a lesson during the week of the ACT or SAT test, you must cancel no later than 3 pm on the Friday preceding the SAT or ACT Test.
PARENT OR GUARDIAN MUST BE HOME DURING SESSION
Please note that it is my policy that a parent or guardian be at home during the tutoring session.
