As a classroom teacher, I have always worked under the assumption that every student can succeed with the right learning strategy. For me, teaching has been a vocation, not just a job. I am able to relate to students of all ages. My enthusiasm for learning is contagious, which results in students who also enjoy learning. I am known for my ability to reach every student, even those who originally disliked a subject because they could never succeed. My students would tell you that I am patient, understanding and caring. I believe in being well-prepared, and have continued my education while teaching by taking additional graduate classes in algebra and geometry, attending math and science workshops during the summer. As a member of the National Science Teachers Association, I have also taken many webinars to keep my skills current in science and technology methodology. Colleagues who have observed my instruction have described me as a master teacher in middle school math and science. I have also tutored younger students in my school in math and reading. My students have always achieved proficient or advanced proficient scores on standardized tests because they were so well prepared.
