As a working artist, I bring a level of dedication and knowledge about the present and past of art and its emotional depths. I completed a BFA in Visual Arts at SUNY Purchase and received an MFA in painting from Brooklyn College. My work has been exhibited in New York and New Jersey including a museum show at the Neuberger Museum. I have worked for four years in a high school setting and also expanded my understanding of students and their development with my work in the Carl Kumpf Middle School. My High School experience included teaching AP Art, painting and drawing, ceramics and Art History.
During the past years after I stopped teaching full time to raise my children, I continued my teaching engagements with after school Outreach programs to work with early education students. The unabashed enthusiasm that these children bring to the projects has highlighted new aspects of art for me and broadened my teaching base and interests. I am very excited by all aspects of art, and am certain that my experience spans all levels of art education. My personal and intimate involvement with the fine arts brings an emotional engagement to the subject that students feel and respect. This year, I have continued my own studies by taking classes at the New York Academy of Art. Being in the company of artists has given me the opportunity to stay aware of current trends and technologies in art and teaching. All of these experiences with students and the art community have emphasized the inherent value that art brings to education and the world around us. I look forward to sharing this opportunity with you and your child.
