To my future tutoring students:
I would like to introduce myself to you and let you know why I would love to work with you as a tutor. I am a teacher and have helped a wide variety of students for many years. There is nothing I enjoy more than to see the sparkle in the eyes of a student who suddenly “gets it” and realizes that what he or she has been struggling with in school is really not that bad. I have had that experience many times. I have worked with students who have difficulty with reading comprehension, students who needed help getting focused on math problems, or just generally organizing their efforts in a variety of subject areas. I would like to help you find a way to make your schoolwork a lot easier. Most of my students find that once they can succeed school actually becomes more enjoyable. In this way, learning becomes a challenge that is welcomed rather that feared.
I believe that every student has a unique learning style. I have developed the ability to discover and nurture what each student’s strengths. I am a New Jersey certified teacher with a degree in education from Boston University. I earned a Masters Degree in applied behavioral science from John’s Hopkins University which has helped prepare me to develop successful approaches to learning. Please look at me as a learning resource. My approach is to understand what the obstacle is and to develop a strategy for overcoming it. I consider myself a partner – working together with you to achieve success.
Probably the most important skill a tutor can impart to a student is learning how to learn. This is something I pride myself on because I strive to give the students the skills that they need to continue to succeed throughout their education. Success breeds success which promotes a positive attitude that is key to the learning process.
I welcome the opportunity to work with you to help achieve your potential and develop your confidence. As a patient and caring tutor, I will help give you the tools you will need to achieve your potential. I will take as much time as you need until the subject you are working with is clear and understandable. My main goal is to develop your confidence in your ability to learn. I look forward to working with you in the near future.
