As an undergraduate I started out as a physics major, exploring a variety of interdisciplinary subjects, and I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (major) and Chemistry (minor). In 2011 I completed my Master's degree in Cell Biology and Biotechnology, where I also completed an independent research project (thesis). I am an adept scientific writer, having authored a number of scientific journal articles.

I have extensive lab experience in cell biology and molecular biology, where I had been primarily focused in the field of neuroscience research, but I also have experience in bone and cartilage research and virology (studying hepatitis B and viral liver disease at the National Institutes of Health).

Last summer I taught a six-week molecular biology lab course as an Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University. This past year I began the first professional year in the pharmacy program at Rutgers, working toward my Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Additionally, I have served as President of a local Toastmasters club, where I have been an officer and member for over 9 years, so I am an experienced public speaking coach.

I am an Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America) and enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. I am a friendly, easygoing person, and I have always enjoyed teaching others and learning while doing so.

Chemistry

As an undergraduate, I minored in chemistry, successfully passing organic chemistry courses, including being named top student in my organic chemistry lab section. I also was employed for a semester as a coop student in the synthetic chemistry department at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (now GlaxoSmithKline), where I co-authored an article published in The Journal of Organic Chemistry.

Geometry

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that deals with shapes, angles, size and relative positions of figures in space, and proportional relationships. A solid foundation in geometry is profoundly important for understanding and applying the fundamentals of trigonometry, calculus, and physics, as well as evaluating spatial relationships in many other diverse fields (not just science and math).

Public Speaking

I have always had excellent grades in speech communication in high school and college. I am currently President of a local Toastmasters club (my third term), where I have been an officer and member for over 9 years. I have achieved the Competent Communicator award and have acted as mentor for virtually all members throughout my tenure.
