Hello!

If you are looking for a friendly, but firm teacher with many years of experience who is absolutely committed to see her students succeed, look no further! I can deliver individualized instruction on the PSAT, SAT, LSAT, and GRE as well as most middle school and high school subjects. With over fifteen years of teaching students of all levels (learning challenged to gifted), I provide each student with the precise guidance he or she needs. To guarantee that each of my students receive my absolute focus and attention, I take only a few clients per year.

Regarding my educational background, I have attended medical, law, and graduate school and tutored students throughout - to say that I am passionate about learning and education would be an understatement. I specialize in clients who have the potential to succeed, but just need that additional boost of confidence and inspiration. While I am more than willing to tutor a student for an extended period of time, my ultimate goal is to teach the student what he or she needs to know in order to do well independently.

I am able to travel directly to students in Bergen, Essex, and Hudson Counties. I am happy to teach in the privacy of your home or in a public setting such as a library, bookstore, or café.

I charge $75 to $100/hour. Pricing depends on subject(s) taught, travel required, and minimum hours per week. I am available to teach on weekends and after 6 p.m. on most weekdays. If you have more than one child or would like semi-private tutoring, rates may be adjusted further.

Please note that I take great pride in my teaching, but I know that significant improvement will not happen without my putting in substantial time with a student. For most standardized test tutoring, I will require, at minimum, two to four hours per week with each student, depending on his or her current abilities, ultimate goals and the testing date.

Available Subjects:

Middle School:
Start your child’s academic year on the right path. Weekly individual instruction will improve your daughter’s or son’s grades and more importantly, improve your child’s confidence. It is never too early to start a tutoring program with your middle school child. Not only will I be able to help your son or daughter with his or her regular classwork, but I can provide guidance on being accepted to the top middle school academic summer programs, such as CTY and TIP.

High School:
I am able to tutor most high school subjects, as well as the ACT, PSAT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests. I may also assist in editing college application essays, selecting appropriate academic summer programs, and/or school year internships for your high school student. Although I ultimately attended a state school (on full scholarship), I was accepted to the majority of East Coast Ivy League universities and accelerated medical school programs.

College and Beyond:
I am extremely proficient at teaching the GRE and LSAT. I may also provide guidance and editing assistance for graduate school essays.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Statistics:

LSAT score: 174 (99 percentile)
Years teaching: Nine years (since 2004)

Study Skills

I have taught study skills to middle school, high school, and college students. With all my clients, I monitor how they tackle their school subjects and determine the effectiveness of their current methods. Using initial and continuing assessments, I teach my students everything from selecting a good place to study, developing a system on keeping track of important papers and assignments, and proactive learning behavior. I have experience teaching these skills to students with ADHD as well as students who many not have obvious lapses in their study skills but could use improvement.
