I am pleased to present my experience to you for consideration as a potential tutor for the student in your life. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and I am currently pursuing an MA/Ed.S in both Professional and School Counseling from Seton Hall University. With over 7 years of teaching and tutoring experience, and the desire to provide all students with an excellent education that encompasses personal and academic development, I am confident in my ability to be a valuable asset to the WyzAnt Tutoring family of professionals.
As my resume will demonstrate, my educational career and path in life is to empower youth today by helping them discover themselves in the learning process. I believe that it takes a village to rear a child in becoming socially competent beings therefore, being an advocate for these students requires collaboration from students, parents, teachers, and the community. Throughout the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral issues, those who performed at grade level, and inner-city youth. As a result, I have become proficient in designing creative and stimulating lesson plans which accommodate multiple levels of intellectuality, bring a hands on approach to learning, and keeping students interested and focused.
My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students. I actively engage their eager minds by incorporating a variety of positive reinforcers, enjoyable activities, and cooperative learning projects. In addition, I develop lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse students as well as incorporating unique teaching techniques. I strongly believe that collaboration is a key component in a child's educational development which will benefit the learning process for students by boosting their self-confidence and self-esteem.
In the past few years I have been exposed to working with various and diverse students from infancy to college level. Prior to applying for Wyzant Tutoring I was working as a private tutor for students and did NJASK testing preparation. I also had experience working with at-risk youth in Jersey City public schools who had difficulty with reading, writing, and math skills. American Tutor Incorporation was a great learning experience for me because it gave me an opportunity to work with inner city youth and I learned more from my students outside the classroom. As an after school tutor, I followed a curriculum that was designed to meet the needs of these students. I strongly believe in meeting the student where they are academically and beginning from where they feel comfortable.
I also had experience working in pre-schools which was an interesting learning opportunity because it allowed me to work with parents as well and informing them of their children's academic development. It was interesting to see how much information young children like to absorb and their understanding of the world around them.
I look forward to discussing with you the many ways in which I can make a significant contribution to your student's educational development. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
