I graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Structural Engineering. I'm a licensed professional engineer with 15 years of engineering design and project management experience in both the government and private sector. I've tutored both as a paid college tutor and private students.
I really enjoy working one-on-one to help students overcome their challenges in mastering a subject. Ultimately, students I work with don't just come away with more knowledge, but a clear increase in confidence that they can apply toward their next challenge. It's a great feeling to help people move forward in their endeavors.
My goal is long term improvement in your efforts to better yourself. It's not just about getting through a course or exam or assignment. We'll focus on your performance and the habits and methods you employ to achieve, and we'll always pursue improvement on the last time. It’s work, but no reason it can’t be fun!
As a student, despite high aptitude, I struggled with technical subjects and worked hard to finish them. I realized that many learning environments use the rigidity of the coursework to make people feel inadequate. And they wonder why more people don't pursue technical studies like science, technology, engineering and math! Solving problems by using what we learn is an essential part of what makes our country successful in many industries, and it is also immensely satisfying! My goal as a tutor is to enable students to power through the uphill portions of their studies so that they graduate or get certified and go on to successful endeavors in business, industry, service and non-profit positions.
Herbert Spencer said, “The great aim of education is not knowledge but action."
I'm eager to help educate students with an eye for getting them into the action! The world needs their abilities, dreams and ambitions to be better. Being part of your success is very enjoyable and satisfying for me. It's not just about helping one person, but the rest of the world to succeed!
