Good Afternoon,

I am an educated social worker and a trained educator. I have worked for different companies ranging from Americorps to the Department of Education. I have gained most of my educational experience as an ESL and GED (history and English) tutor through the corps program, which sparked my interest as an educator. Through this experience, I became an elementary sub-teacher. I am competent, well organized, and passionate about what I teach. I do not stop until I know my student understands. If I do not make progress, I change or make an assessment to find out if I am a suitable teacher for them. Though, I would not want any of my students to leave me, I understand that it is not for my benefit to teach them but for them to learn from me.
I hope that I will be a successful tutor for potential clients. I hope that I may receive long lasting relationships with future students because I know teaching is a joy in and of itself.

Writing

I am a perfectionist when it comes to writing and speech. I edit my papers and also allow other close people to edit my papers as well for a better product. I honor to assist you to the best of my ability. I hope that you are willing as well.

English

I tutor and teach ESL students. I have taught elementary school students. I am currently taking educational courses to improve my skills.

ESL/ESOL

I am currently a tutor for ESL/ESOL students in New Jersey. I teach them grammar, punctuation, writing, civics and government among other things. I am passionate in relation to this population.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been a substitute teacher for elementary school. I created lesson plans for each grade depending on the subject I was to teach/cover that day. I mainly taught language arts, science, math (k-6)and social studies and tutored in math (5-6)

Phonics

I have volunteered for a college tutoring ESL students on phonics, grammar, and spelling among other things. I will volunteer for an organization to help teach literacy. Language acquisition is one branching element to learning anything.

Study Skills

The first objective of studying the wrong way is cramming. You do not achieve any knowledge by cramming in the long run. If you want to study skillfully, learn how to read well and paraphrase. Understanding the concept will help a student jog his or her memory in every subject.

Public Speaking

I have received an A in my public speaking class in both high school and college. I am articulate. I emphasize words to invoke a response. I believe poise, pressure and pronunciation assists in making a good speech meaningful. If you believe in what you are fighting for, others will either respect it or believe it too.

College Counseling

I have a certification in school social work. I have been a college student and have interned at a public school district under the guidance counseling department.

Adobe InDesign

I used Indesign for posters and banners during my time as an student programmer. It was also customary to use Indesign in yearbooks when I was a co editor.

Microsoft Access

I have been taught in Microsoft office applications throughout college. I used Access for list. I prefer Access because it organizes your lists. Also, because I am fond of creating events, I used Access as my field to organize guest lists. It is a very good tool that is not widely used.

Sociology

I am qualified to teach sociology because I have a Master's in Social Work. A Social Work may be achieved by taking a certain amount of sociology and psychology courses. All of these courses are social science courses.

Speech

Speech is one element of speaking that is underestimated. The one thing I teach my esl/ell students is to enunciate because it helps the listener to hear and understand the clarity of your voice/tone. I tend to correct family and friends and remind them to be articulate.

Social Studies

I have a degree in a social science. This background allowed me to take classes in sociology, psychology, anthropology, history and other subjects. I tutored students on American history, government and politics. I tutor students currently in civics and government. I have been a study leader in history. I have also sub taught for an elementary social studies teacher.
