Hi! Quite simply, I love teaching kids to read! I believe there is a direct link between reading well and writing well. I have a wonderful rapport with kids, and encourage them to be themselves (sometimes a little silly) and to find the joy in learning.
I incorporate reading out loud; for both the student and me. Hearing something well read opens up a child to learning the cadence of speech, new vocabulary and eloquent ways of expressing ideas.
I home schooled my own son from first through 5th grade. He began middle school this academic year with advanced reading and writing skills. In addition to tutoring Kindergarten through elementary reading and writing, I work with middle school students in grammar and writing as well. I often work with the middle school students in person once or twice each month, and then we email papers back and forth for editing purposes. It's a great way to save time and be sure that they are handing in the highest quality work possible.
