My passion is photography and digital photo-illustration (manipulation of one or more images to make a personal statement). Having used Adobe Photoshop since its introduction to create images that appeared on the covers of national publications and advertising campaigns, I have an in-depth knowledge of Photoshop and what it can do. I would very much like to share that passion and the knowledge, that I've acquired over a forty year career, with fellow artists and students who are as passionate. Now I would like to share that passion, skill, and knowledge with you.
I ran a photo-studio in the photo-district on Fifth avenue in Manhattan. When I saw a demo of what a computer could do with an image (I did all of my prior image manipulation in the dark room or in camera) I felt like a cave man who had been rubbing two sticks together to make fire and was being shown a cigarette lighter. I knew that this was the future and I had to have it. As one of the first photographers in the country to have a color workstation in my studio, I literally pioneered digital photo-illustration for advertising and magazines.
My clients include: Time, Newsweek, and Discover magazines; and Intel, Nikon, American Express, Marriot Hotels, and Pepsico. Having written two full color hardcover books on photo-illustration and having lectured extensively in Europe, Canada, and the US on the subject, I feel qualified to help others to pursue their creative goals in this exciting field.
