As a tutor of the mathematics, I listen to the challenge of the student and use my experience in the subject to explain the concept in detail. I then follow up with practical examples to enhance student's understanding of the concept. Then the task of solving as many as necessary problems is undertaken so that the student is clear and comfortable with the topic and how to go about solving for the related problems.
By way of background, I am a NJ certified Math Teacher. To accomplish successful tutoring, a connection is made with the student to reach mutual trust. I believe trust is the most fundamental principle which governs my teaching practice. Most students who engage in tutoring experience have a learning block on a topic. The task becomes "to remove the block and enhance student confidence in the matter."
